With Gratitude as Boundless as the Sea, Dr. Susan Letzler Cole Creates a Planned Gift for the College’s Future
![]() |
A lot has changed since Dr. Susan Letzler Cole first arrived on the Albertus campus back in 1972 to teach Shakespeare. But her commitment has never changed. Nor has her love of teaching ever wavered, which is why she has made the College part of her estate plan—ensuring that future generations will enjoy the same level of excellence she has been a part of delivering for more than 50 years.
Susan’s gift of a revocable trust will establish an endowed fund to support Albertus students in perpetuity, especially those with an interest in theater and creative writing.
“I want it to be used in a way to enhance and enlarge the presence of creative people in theater and creative writing,” Susan says.
A graduate of Duke University with a Ph.D. from Harvard, Susan loves that Albertus has given her the opportunity to do student-centered teaching for her entire career—which is still going strong after five decades. That has kept her passionate about her work at the College and inspired her decision to make a planned gift.
When asked why she wished to make a planned gift, Susan said: “Because of the value that Albertus has given my life and the lives of so many others, why would I not want to give something back financially?”
Susan encourages others to join her in making a planned gift: “Think about what Albertus has done for your future life and consider making a gift to Albertus for its future life.”
