Rose Siefert Dios ’80 Marks Centennial with Blended Gift

Growing up in Monroe, Connecticut, as one of 11 children, Rose (Siefert) Dios learned resilience early. She was just 14 when her father passed away unexpectedly. “My mother didn’t even know how to write a check,” she recalls. Rose stepped in—reading The Wall Street Journal, creating a household budget, and even investing in stocks to help her family. “That’s when I unknowingly began my career as a financial advisor.”
A few years later, Albertus Magnus College entered Rose’s life thanks to a family accountant who encouraged her to apply. “Albertus offered me more than an education—it gave me stability, purpose, and the freedom to dream,” she says.
To pay her way, Rose worked at Yale New Haven Hospital and took on tailoring, waitressing, and house cleaning. At Albertus, she immersed herself in economics and business. Yet it was the encouragement of faculty and community support that left the deepest mark.
Albertus became the foundation for a remarkable life: financial advisor, entrepreneur, volunteer, and lifelong learner. “Albertus shaped who I became. It instilled in me the value of giving back,” she recalls.
During COVID, Rose reconnected with Albertus and “felt that spark again.” She now sponsors the Investing in Education program and serves on the Board of Trustees. In support of Forever Albertus: The Centennial Campaign, Rose has made a blended commitment—a multi-year pledge that covers room and board for students in need, as well as an estate-plan IRA gift that will provide scholarships for students from backgrounds like hers.
“Albertus changed my life. Now I want to help change someone else’s,” she concludes.
