Alberta Conte ’71 Supports Albertus with Both Lifetime and Legacy Gifts
![]() |
Alberta Conte grew up in nearby East Haven and was a first-generation college student who had to work while attending school to pay for her education. She had two older cousins who graduated from Albertus and raved about it. She liked the small class sizes and also received a scholarship. “I had several college offers,” she says, “but none of the schools made me feel wanted as a student like Albertus did.”
In addition to her regular support of the College through IRA required minimum distribution (RMD) gifts, Alberta has also included a bequest to Albertus in her will. “I want to pay it forward and help to give other students the opportunities I received,” she says. “I hope they learn about charity, service, and giving back because I think there needs to be more of that.”
Beginning in 2014, Alberta served ten years on the Alumni Advisory Council and currently serves as a Centennial Ambassador. As a lifelong educator, she wants young students to benefit from a values-based education and hopes that they will become responsible citizens who contribute to their communities—whether here in Connecticut or anywhere else.
Alberta encourages others to join her in leaving a legacy of support for future students. “With the College’s Centennial upon us, the time is now,” she concludes. “Let’s keep Albertus going for another 100 years and more. I hope that other alumnae/i will consider remembering Albertus in their wills. Give as much as you can!”
